10 Things to do Before You Have Kids

I found this article on Facebook.  It's on a  website called Beliefnet.  The writer is speaking to young married couples, she talks about things like joining a Kickball league or going to the Coachella Music Festival.  Basically, enjoy yourself while you're still newlyweds before you bring kids into the equation... because everything changes.  I was surprised by so many negative comments about this piece. The majority of  people were really upset. Some called it ridiculous, selfish, materialistic & un-Christian behavior.  Really?

I happen to agree with the writer.  I mean, you don't have to do everything on the list (if that's not your particular taste) but you get the picture.  My husband & I were married for five years before we decided to have children and it was like an extended courtship.  We had dinner & a movie every Friday night, we traveled a lot, we did all the fun stuff we could afford to do.

In my humble opinion it was the best way to go.  Of course, if you have children right away or start the marriage with kids, there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.  You can still have fun and enjoy your life. Nobody's denying that. It has been my experience that once you have children there is a mind, body & soul paradigm shift,  as it should be.  And if you're not ready for that, I don't think it's wrong to take advantage of being somewhat carefree.

And for the record, we now have three beautiful children who have blessed our lives immeasurably and we thank God for them.  I wouldn't go back and change a thing.  What say you?
